Hazing Prevention Network, formerly known as HazingPrevention.Org, is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering people to prevent hazing. Our goal is to educate people about the dangers of hazing, advocate for change, and engage the community in strategies to prevent hazing. We are a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Our history
HazingPrevention.Org started in 2007 when our founder, Tracy Maxwell, decided to change the conversation about hazing from how to punish hazing to how to prevent it. With the support of co-founder David Stollman, President of CAMPUSPEAK, experts were recruited to serve with him on the Board of Directors, National Hazing Prevention Week and The Hazing Prevention Institute™ were given to this new entity, and the work began. In the years since, we have expanded our work to include hazing prevention programs for students in middle school, high school and college. We are much more than a website, but here you will find resources, links to our educational programs, stories and articles, in pursuit of our mission to empower people to prevent hazing.

This simple but powerful gesture reflects integrity, accountability, and commitment. Just as placing a hand over the heart is associated with making a promise, the logo reinforces the idea that hazing prevention begins with an individual decision to lead with courage and conviction.
At its core, the image represents more than awareness—it represents action. It is a visual reminder that preventing hazing requires each of us to stand up, speak out, and uphold the values of dignity, respect, and belonging. When we place our hand over our heart, we affirm our role in creating safer, stronger communities. Through this symbol, Hazing Prevention Network calls on everyone to #BeTheLeader and take the pledge to prevent hazing.
