The Hazing Prevention Network is excited to welcome Emily Couch to the board of directors after her election in August.
“We are honored to welcome Emily,” said HPN Executive Director Todd Shelton. “As both an attorney and a sorority woman, she brings invaluable expertise and perspective that will strengthen our efforts to advance hazing prevention and promote safer communities.”
Emily is an attorney with Manley Burke, where her practice focuses on litigation in areas including employment, municipal law, planning and zoning, real estate, corporate matters, and probate and estate planning. She is dedicated to helping both individuals and organizations navigate complex legal challenges with practical guidance and strong advocacy.
“I believe strongly that the best advocacy begins with education—empowering individuals with knowledge ensures stronger decisions and better outcomes,” said Couch. “I am looking forward to working with Hazing Prevention Network to educate people and advocate for a culture that ends hazing.”
In addition to her diverse practice areas, Emily has developed expertise in the specialized and evolving field of fraternal law, representing organizations and members in governance, compliance, and dispute resolution. She regularly conducts training on governance and risk mitigation and emphasizes education as the cornerstone of effective advocacy.
Beyond her professional work, Emily is deeply invested in her community. She serves on the Holly Hill Child and Family Services Board of Directors, supporting efforts to advocate for children and families in crisis, and volunteers with other local initiatives.
Alongside Couch’s election, Elliot Hopkins, Marc Mores, and Bonnie Wunsch were re-elected to the HPN Board, and Lily Gruver was re-elected to a one-year term as student representative.
