High School Curriculum

 

This high school curriculum was developed and graciously shared at no cost by Courtney White, Ed.D., of the Love Like Adam Foundation.

The curriculum includes four days of lessons, materials, assessments, and train the trainer sessions and can be implemented into an existing course, health & physical education, or advisory periods.

Audience: Grades 8 – 12

Suggested Class: Government, Health and Physical Education, or an Advisory Class

Time: 60-90 minute daily lessons with facilitator guide and training

Materials Provided: Planning and Pacing Guide, Google Slides, Activities and Materials, and Formative and Summative Assessments

Curriculum Overview: 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Define hazing
  • Identify types of hazing
  • Comprehend the impact of hazing
  • Describe why people haze
  • Identify and implement steps to intervene

Learning outcomes:

  • Describe causes (power, tradition) and identify dangers of hazing
  • Explain the long-term consequences of hazing (depression, anxiety, shame, exhaustion, mental instability, decline in grades)
  • Identify and Describe school policies and laws related to hazing

Learning outcomes:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of bystander intervention
  • Promote ways to intervene (3Ds – Delegate, Direct, and Distract)

Learning outcomes:

  • Explain how the overconsumption of alcohol can increase the risk of injury
  • Identify the signs of alcohol poisoning
