HazingPrevention.Org™ names Shelton as new Executive Director

Indianapolis (November 28, 2022) — HazingPrevention.Org™ (HPO) announces the appointment of Todd Shelton as the leading hazing prevention organization’s new executive director.

“Todd is an outstanding leader who brings extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, strong communications expertise and a true understanding of our communities,” said HazingPrevention.Org™ President Marc Mores. “He shares HPO’s commitment to empower people to prevent hazing, and we look forward to working with him to strengthen our efforts and continue to drive impact.”

Shelton joins HPO with two decades in strategic communication and nonprofit management experience. Most recently, he has assisted a breadth of nonprofits with communication and project management assistance as CEO and Creative Thinker of Y’all Comm LLC. He previously served as the Chief Communication Officer at the North American Interfraternity Conference trade association where he worked to advance the brand of fraternity, created and implemented industry-wide response protocols and resources, co-led the public relations efforts of Stand Up to Harvard and advanced the efforts of the Anti-Hazing Coalition.

Now is the time to further build our network of people and organizations to tackle this dangerous behavior.

“For 15 years, HazingPrevention.Org™ has been a leader in efforts to prevent hazing,” said Shelton. “Now is a wonderful time to reflect and build upon successes such as National Hazing Prevention Week™, the Hazing Prevention Institute and Prevent.Zone™ educational resources.”

“Working the last few years with the parents of hazing victims as a part of the Anti-Hazing Coalition brought a renewed focus to my interest in hazing prevention. I look forward to strengthening HPO’s impact for cultural change across all types of organizations and athletics—both during and before students reach college. Now is the time to further build our network of people and organizations to tackle this dangerous behavior.”

Prior to the NIC, he led the communication efforts for Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, Sigma Pi Fraternity and his own Kappa Alpha Order.
